B.S. in Industrial Engineering (IENG)
About A three year program with the purpose of producing competent engineers who are highly trained in industrial engineering to meet the needs of a continuously expanding industrialized society. The undergraduate program prepares students with expertise in the analysis, design, implementation and control of integrated systems consisting of people, material, equipment, information and modes of communication through theoretical and hands on practices. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skills in mathematics, basic and applied engineering sciences, social sciences, and engineering management best practices. The IENG courses deal with topics such as simulation, optimization production and manufacturing, occupational safety, engineering project management, quality assurance, human factors, and industrial engineering computer tools. Program Educational Objectives Within few of years of graduation, Industrial Engineering graduates will:
Why?
While some engineering degrees apply to specific and narrow fields, Industrial Engineering has a “big-picture” perspective which brings resources, people, equipment, and other levels of technologies together to improve systems and processes. By that, it gives engineers the opportunity to work in a variety of Context and environment. Many Industrial Engineering practitioners highly agree that an industrial engineering education can offer the best of education in both engineering and business. Industrial Engineering opens doors for many career opportunities in nearly every sector of the economy. Therefore, it is not surprising to see a strong and high growing demand for Industrial Engineers as The United States Department of Labor predicts that over the next decade the demand for industrial engineers will rise 14%. What Industrial Engineering Do? Industrial engineers are systems’ engineers
who focus on the integration of automated systems and machines, people,
materials, information, and designs and processes improvements where companies
can save money and eliminate waste. Industrial Engineering is not just about manufacturing. It also includes other service industries like: • Medical and Health care Services • Oil & Gas • Energy • Electronics / Electrical Assembly • Aerospace & Airplanes Typical Focus areas: – Project Management – Productivity, Methods, and Process Engineering – Manufacturing, Production, Quality, and Distribution – Program Management – Supply Chain Management – Technology Development and Transfer
